Curriculum Vitae

Since I have discontinued my old website kuijlenburg.com, it seems necessary to reintroduce myself to you. I was born on June 24, 1948, and I've had a passion for drawing and painting from a very young age. However, this passion didn't lead to an art education, as was often the case in those days. After many detours, and to keep the story short, I eventually found myself at the Amsterdam Historical Museum, now known as the Amsterdam Museum. There, I spent over 20 years working on spatial and graphic design. It was a job where I could channel much of my creativity, if only through the incredible diversity of my tasks. I can say it was a wonderful time with fantastic colleagues. Unfortunately, life doesn't always go as planned.
At the age of 43, I had to leave the museum for health reasons. A challenging period began, but then you can be grateful for having something you can reconnect with, which, for me, had always been drawing and painting. Back when I was living in Monnickendam, I've now been residing in Nieuw-Roden, Drenthe, with great pleasure for over 20 years. What's even more wonderful is that I've been teaching for over 20 years at the Drawing and Painting Group Roden, the TSR. I can tell you that I derive a lot of joy from it. When people, whether with a lot or little talent but with great enthusiasm, are painting alongside you, and you can elevate them to greater heights, it's already been a beautiful day for me. When I see people working with the same passion, it makes me happy. Unfortunately, the pandemic has also disrupted things here, but the association's board has worked diligently in the new season, and the organization is thriving once again.
I hope that the website piques your curiosity and encourages you to potentially ask me questions, not about me, but about things you believe might be helpful to you.

Until then, Ger Kuijlenburg.
